The feedstock used for the biofuel was 85% camelina (grown by Targeted Growth) , 14% jatropha, and 1% algae.
Same Fuel as Used on JAL Test Flight
This is the same biofuel mixture that was used on a JAL test flight back in January, that showed that biofuels can be more efficient that petroleum-based fuels in jet engines."

And that's just the tip of the iceberg of the group's forecast for the energy future of the United States . . .

According to Bloomberg, the report also calls for "building 100 million plug-in electric vehicles and retrofitting about 18 percent of U.S. coal-power plants to capture emissions." Nissan Unveils All-Electric LEAF

"The LEAF, as it is now officially dubbed, is a compact five-door hatchback with room for four or (with a squeeze) five adults. Below its floor sits a laminated lithium-ion battery pack composed of many rectangular modules, each roughly the size of a notebook, which add up to a 24kWh capacity and an output over 90kW. Under the LEAF's hood lives the engine, a small but powerful synchronous AC 80kW motor.

Nissan is confident that the LEAF will travel 100 miles on a charge. Charging time will vary from 16 hours (on a standard household plug) to 30 minutes (on a fancy 3-phase charging station)."

Toyota Denies Hybrid Yaris Claims

After Reuters leaked out the information of a new Hybrid version of the Toyota Yaris for 2011, a Toyota spokesperson denied the claims. I personally believe they are denying it and haven't officially announced it so their competitors won't find out and also so their sales don't go down. For instance, who in the world would buy a Toyota Prius at $30,000 when you can wait a year or two and get a more fuel efficient Yaris for half the price?

We will have to wait and see what transpires but if this vehicle does release, it will be a huge hit. You would probably see everyone driving around a Yaris due to it's economic price tag of $15,000 and an amazing 65 miles per gallon. This will then force other auto manufacturers to release their own economic Hybrids. I predict in 10 years everyone will be driving Hybrids/Electric cars.

How Bad is China's Pollution?

The Guardian has reported that Nissan is working on induction charging for electric cars, meaning no direct physical contact between vehicle and charging node. Have a Red, White and Green 4th of July!

We all know what the beauty of July 4th is... its Fireworks! Along with the mesmerizing florescent colors we will be seeing on this Holiday, we will also see gunpowder fall out to smoke and dust that contain various heavy metals, sulfur-coal compounds and other noxious chemicals.

I'm sure all the fun we will be having on this day with stuffing our faces, blowing crap up and spending time with people you hate, I mean family, should be well worth the pollution and the destruction we will be causing upon the atmosphere. I mean blowing things up is an American Pastime!

Though we could all replace Fireworks with ribbon streamers, but who is going to do that? I mean Ribbon Streamers... really? Just make sure the paper used in those ribbon streamers is green certified. I personally believe we should all work together and start pushing for the mass manufacturing of gun powder-free biodegradable fireworks for next year.

but let's not fool ourselves...there is no Green on 4th of July
